I am reaching out regarding a troubling incident that took place today at our Fayetteville location.
Yesterday a parent informed us that, because she was in the medical profession and considered herself high-risk for contracting COVID-19, she would be removing her child from the Academy for two weeks. As a precaution, we disenrolled her child.
This morning, a relative attempted to drop the child off at our Fayetteville location with a mask on. We were surprised. Our staff refused the relative and child entrance and informed her that the child was disenrolled. The parent became disgruntled while discussing the reasons for the dismissal over the phone. In response, the parent informed staff that she was not high-risk and only said that to “test Creekstone Academy policies.” We made the decision to keep the child disenrolled because we were not comfortable taking a chance like that with our students or our staff.
When informed that we would not reverse our decision, the parent posted on Facebook that we had a child in our school that had been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. This is untrue.
We are not aware of any child here in the school displaying a fever or any symptoms of the coronavirus at this time. As always, we are constantly monitoring our children for illness and we make every effort to keep our center clean and safe. We will continue to do this during this pandemic and beyond.
We are sorry to bring you this news today but I felt obligated to inform you and give you an opportunity to inquire. We are here for you. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. We look forward to working with you and your family during this uncertain time.
